Introduction to WebSphere Process Server

WebSphere Process Server is a proprietry of IBM and came into existence in 2005.Known as WPS in short and it is a runtime engine that uses WebSphere Integration Developer as develelopment tool.WebSphere Integration Developer is built on eclipse platform.It resembles RAD (Rational Application Developer),but has more perspective like Business Integration perspective.WID can be used along with IBM Rational Software Architect or WebSphereBusinessModeler.WID is for developing the applications and WPS/WESB are for deploying the applications.

WebSphere Process Server extends the WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus runtime and is built upon WebSphere Applictaion Server(WAS).The core J2EE support to run the applications is provided by WAS.
Initial version of WPS is 6.0 .Latest being 8.0 which is termed as IBM Business Process Manager 8.0.
